ITI’s Drivers License Scanner allows users to scan the front of any state’s drivers license or identification card, or the two dimensional barcode available on the back of many licenses. Using optical character recognition, our software collects the data fields and presents them directly to our state NCIC interface. This is used in a number of location, including:
Mobile Patrol: Officers in their patrol vehicles scan the license for inquiry. The results of the scan or the inquiry response are then used to populate a traffic citation or warning. Officers don’t touch the keyboard to run an inquiry or enter driver information, thus keeping their attention focused on the stop – and on safety.
Jail Management: Visitor check-in is expedited by scanning the license for NCIC inquiry and for entry into the visitation log.
Court Administration: Defendant information is scanned for NCIC inquiry during court appearances to check for wants/warrants.
